Caroline Roarty Counseling

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor working with clients across New York. I create a warm, welcoming space where you can feel understood and supported. Together, we will build greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and lasting change.

Welcome,

My name is Caroline, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in New York. I specialize in supporting driven professionals, young adults, and college students who are navigating life transitions, identity, and relationships. Many of my clients come in feeling like something isn’t quite right, whether that shows up as anxiety, depression, isolation, or feeling stuck in old patterns. I also work closely with women and LGBTQ+ individuals, and I am committed to providing an affirming, supportive space where all parts of you are welcome. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, feel grounded in who you are, and move toward a life that feels authentic and connected.

In our sessions, I aim to create a space that feels warm, engaged, and non-judgmental, where you can slow down and explore your inner world with curiosity and honesty. I love my work as a therapist, and feel honored to support clients in their healing journey. Reach out to schedule a consultation, and let’s see if we’re a good fit. I look forward to working with you!

Support Tailored to Your Needs

Individual therapy offers you a space to slow down, reflect, and better understand what you’re going through. When it comes to your mental health, you don’t have to figure it out alone. My clinical approach draws from person-centered, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral (CBT), and motivational interviewing frameworks, while incorporating mindfulness and somatic techniques to support both insight and embodied awareness. As an EMDR-trained therapist, I can also help you process unresolved or distressing experiences that may still be impacting you in the present.

Through an individualized and collaborative approach, I support you in identifying and shifting patterns that may be keeping you stuck, while building greater emotional flexibility and resilience. Together, we’ll work toward helping you feel grounded, confident, and connected to yourself.

I offer virtual sessions through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform for clients across New York.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, evidence-based therapy used to help people process and heal from distressing or traumatic experiences. It works by helping the brain reprocess memories that may feel “stuck,” so they become less emotionally intense and more integrated into a person’s overall understanding of themselves and their experiences. Treatment begins with building a clear understanding of your history, goals, and internal resources, along with developing tools to support emotional regulation and a sense of safety. Once this foundation is in place, therapy incorporates guided sets of bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, while focusing on specific memories. Over time, this process can reduce distress, shift negative beliefs, and support more adaptive ways of thinking, feeling, and responding.

I’m grateful for the clarity and growth I’ve experienced through our work together, and I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking a compassionate space for self-exploration.”

“Caroline exudes a warm energy that creates a safe space. I feel completely unjudged, validated, and comfortable being open with her.”

Your Questions, Answered

  • My full session fee is $200 for a 45–50 minute therapy session. Intake sessions are 55 minutes and are charged at the same rate.

I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on financial need, and I’m happy to discuss options during your consultation call.

  • I am considered an out-of-network (OON) provider and do not accept insurance. Upon your request, I will provide you with a “superbill” for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. You are responsible for communicating with your insurance company and understanding your plan's benefits and limitations.

  • If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to better understand your coverage. You can call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask the following questions:

    • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

    • What is my deductible, and how much has been met?

    • What percentage of each session is reimbursed? Is this percentage based on an allowed amount?

    • Is there a limit to the number of sessions covered?

    • How do I submit claims for reimbursement?

You can also review your “Summary of Benefits” document in your insurance portal for out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage.

I’m happy to provide you with a monthly superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

  • Sessions with me happen once a week on the same day and time. Consistent therapy leads to the best results, and having a set time allows me to keep a dedicated space open for you.

Alternative session frequency and scheduling options can be discussed as needed.

  • Yes! EMDR can be done online. You’ll need to attend sessions in a private space, have a stable internet connection, and bring sticky notes.

  • Please fill out the form on the Contact page. Include your name, phone number, email address, and reason for seeking therapy. You are also welcome to include your availability for sessions. I’ll respond to schedule a free, 15-minute consultation call.

  • A Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) is a licensed therapist trained to support individuals in understanding and working through emotional, psychological, and relational challenges. LMHCs provide therapy using evidence-based approaches to help clients navigate concerns such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship difficulties.

I am a licensed psychotherapist in the State of New York (License #017883). I hold a B.S. in Applied Psychology and an M.A. in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University.
